Hosts Author Dr. Mariel Buqué to Speak on Healing Intergenerational Trauma
For All Seasons is bringing acclaimed author Dr. Mariel Buqué to educate Maryland’s Eastern Shore communities on the significance of healing intergenerational trauma on October 29 at 6:30 p.m. at Chesapeake College Todd Performing Arts Center in Wye Mills, Maryland.
“We are thrilled to have Dr. Buqué with us to share her expertise in intergenerational trauma with our community. Her work with diverse audiences throughout the world – including with organizations like Google, Facebook (Meta), and Capital One – has helped thousands gain a deeper understanding and commitment towards mental wellness, laying the groundwork for lasting community resilience and empowerment. Her work is groundbreaking and will offer the community members who join us a unique opportunity to look at intergenerational trauma in a new way, whether it’s healing from their own families’ history of trauma that has been passed down or that of those they work with or support professionally,” states Beth Anne Dorman, President and CEO of For All Seasons.
Dr. Buqué, a first-generation Black Dominican psychologist, is a trailblazer in addressing intergenerational trauma, particularly within communities of color. With a doctoral degree in counseling psychology from Columbia University and extensive training in holistic mental health, her work emphasizes culturally responsive, trauma-informed care. Her book, “Break the Cycle: A Guide to Healing Intergenerational Trauma,” is an acclaimed resource offering practical tools for transforming intergenerational pain into healing and abundance.
The free lecture and a question-and-answer period will address Dr. Buqué’s work in helping reduce the recurrence of Intergenerational ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences) within communities of color. A book signing will be held following the lecture from 8 to 8:30 p.m.
Reservations are required. For further information on the free lecture, visit https://breakthecycleevent.eventbrite.com/.
